Me and Will's (Moishii is now called Will as Will and Grace is back on! And a trip together means more Will and Grace shenannigans from the both of us!) plan for a week away at the Gold Coast met a slight hitch, basically Will couldn't get leave. So to make up for it, he organised a country weekend trip for the 2 of us, even if it was partly for work. Hey, free travel and accommodation, I'm up for it!
Will had warned me that it could get either really cold or really hot out at the country, this made it a pain in the butt to pack. So when he stopped by a few days earlier, I loaded his car up with my blanket and other stuff. On the day, I carried my camera backpack, hand bag, day/food bag and my hand luggage suitcase to the train station at 6:30am!!! Lets just say, my trips are never smooth, especially that early in the morning. I had made a bunch of CDs to entertain us in the car, as I was walking towards the ticket gate at the train station, ALL of the CDs fell out of my bag and scattered all over the floor. And by the time I picked them up, half of them were scratched. Its too early in the morning for this.
I get onto the train, and 40mins later, I give Will a call to say I'm about arrive when he starts screaming that he's not ready. Basically he shoved all his luggage into the car and the floor and came tearing down the street to pick me up.
First time was Katoomba for breakfast. I love listening to the radio, especially when the weather forecasts says that its going to be clear blue skies and we get this:

The thermometer also said that it was 8 degrees. When we got to Katoomba (We almost missed the exit because of the fog), we hop out of the car in search for food. This is what I was dressed in, and let me say, I WAS STILL COLD!

We stopped at Bon Ton cafe as we could see a fireplace blaring from across the street. OMG! WARMTH!
Banana pancakes with honeycomb butterWill didn't read the menu properly and thought it was honeycomb cream, and basically scooping the butter straight into his mouth until I told him! However, with that said, the pancakes were ultra fluffy!
French toast with wild berriesI got the french toast with wild berries and damn it was good! I got such a sugar rush from it as well I couldn't stop giggling!

We get back into the car and continue driving, when I started taking random photos to keep me entertained.

This basically sums up most of the holiday
People on the highway
LookoutOnce we passed through the Blue Mountains, the skies cleared up immediately and the temperature soared back up to about 25degrees. As we get into Mudgee, we turn into the first winery we saw that was open. Logans.
The first tasting
Second??
Third...maybe??
Logans is very generous with their samples......Lets just say, I was smashed. No seriously, the room was spinning, and it was the first winery. It doesn't help that Logans has about 3 ranges of wines....I thought instead of jumping straight into the car, we would go outside and take a few photos to wait for the alcohol to wear off.
Will taking evidence of me harrassing the dog
Dog doesn't like being harrassed
Now THAT is a life...Once the floor stopped moving, we hopped back into the car and went to the next winery, Prince Hills.

Me and my 4th bottle of wineWe tasted the best marinated olives we've ever tasted, but they were sold out!! They did tell us that we could buy them from the mudge town centre, so off we went.
Mudgee town centreWill left me on my own whilst he had to visit a client, within the 20mins he left me alone, I had purchased 2 tops, books and other "stuff". I was carrying so much, I'm glad we met at the recommended cafe which was around the corner from where I was.
Butchers Cafe
Lamb burger
Tower burgerI needed to line my stomach for more wineries, so I went for the Tower Burger.
Innards - Beef, bacon, egg, beetroot and saladWe drove off in search for the High Valley wine and cheese company.

They make their own wine as well as marinate their own cheeses. Whilst we tried the wine, it was the cheese we were really after.

Me making another purchaseWe also visited the Farmer's Daughter winery, but didn't end up buying much. We thought it was getting late, so we started heading towards Dubbo when we spotted the honey mead place.

This place had more types of honey that I could count, who knew there were so many types of honey?? I bought 2 bottles of mead, and the BEST strawberry honey I've ever had! We made our purchases and continued driving. Just as we turned a corner, I spotted a turtle in the middle of the road and started screaming "TURTLE!!!!!! TURTLE!!!!!". Will comes to a skidding halt onto the side of the road
Me and the lucky turtleI pick the turtle up and take him to the other side of the road. Except I have no idea where the turtle could possibly have come from???? From then onwards, it was a pretty uneventful drive all the way to Dubbo. Well, except for the 10 dead kangaroos we saw.
We pull into Dubbo, where Will visits a few clients and I go shopping. Once done, we had to locate our motel by going around in circles. We eventually find our motel and quickly check in. However, there was a mix up in the booking and they had booked a queen room for us. When I asked for a twin room, the woman said we can either use the pull out sofa, or the other option are the cottage which have a queen, a single and a pull out double for the same price. Anything else will be more expensive and she would prefer to save it for a family. So I go "No problems, we'll take the cottage". The woman reluctantly hands over the keys and we walk out. As we walk out, Will has a laughing fit. Apparently, his understanding is that the woman would prefer to save our cottage for a family, but I took it anyway. MY understanding was that we could take that cottage, but any other cottages she's rather save for another family. Basically she offered a cottage she didn't want us to take, but we took it anyway.
The queen room
Living room
Single bed
We unpack, shower and hit the bottle. I also decided that I should eat a packet of instant coffee powder, which turned out to be the worst idea ever. It basically ended up with me and the toilet sink spending time together.
Will's mum also made a heap of snacks for our trip.
Kofte, after we've eaten half a box
Cheese breadWe decided to ease ourselves into the holiday by watching Acropolis Now on DVD. After a few episodes, we decided to go look for food (Even though we practically had a meal feasting on Will's goodies)
We head to the Dubbo RSL club and did a few laps, with nothing tempting us, we headed to the main street in search for food instead. Seeing a huge gathering of cars outside the Pastoral Hotel Bar and Grill, we decided that the food must be good.
View from the balcony
Grilled Barramundi, salad and chips
Grilled chicken and prawns with a creamy garlic sauce with chips and saladI'm starting to notice that the servings in the countryside are HUGE. Neither of us could get through the main, yet we ordered dessert anyway.
Strawberry cheesecakeWe completely stuff ourselves and head back to the motel in a drunken state where we spend the next 2 hours watching and rewatching Little Britain. After the biggest laughing fit, we decided to hit the sack. Not before Will turns around and dumps all the toiletries into my bag.....

And then break the handle off the door...

A wonderful start to our holiday.
