I am officially broke.....

Alot has been happening for me in the past few weeks. Things that I didn't think will happen for another 2-3 years suddenly happened within the space of a week. Wait, within the space of one weekend. I have gone from being a carefree "spend what I earn when I want" person to a "Holy shit I gotta budget every single paycheck now" person. I was talking to some friends about holidays we can have. Thailand during xmas, beach holidays during the long weekends, possibly another contiki tour next year. Although it is probably all talk and won't actually eventuate to anything, but I was allowed to talk. To say "Yeh that sounds good! We should defintely do it!". Now.....I gotta learn to bite back my tongue and count my wallet. :T Why? Because of this. *SiGH*

There's no place like home

Mum was taking the garbage out tonight. So basically she has to open the garage door to wheel the bin out. Everytime we open the garage door, my dog will bolt out of the gate and run to the end of of our drive way for a bit of a trot. Every now and then he'll run to the neighbours house. But everytime you close the garage door (its electric) my dog will hear the motor running and bolt right back into the house before the door closes. We never have to chase my dog or worry about him not coming home.

After pushing the bin out, my mum closed the door and went inside the house to have dinner. During dinner, my parents heard this really loud scratching sound. Thinking it was probably someone pushing a trolley outside the house, they ignored it. About 5-10mins later, they hear this really loud whining sound. They go to the front door to check who the hell is making so much noise and they found out that my poor doggie was locked out of the house and has been scratching on our front door to be let back in! awwwwwww *^_^* We had the gates wide open with people walking pass our house nonstop and my dog didn't run away or knaw anyone to death. AHeAHeAHE All he wanted to do was to be let back into the house. I came home and heard the story and quickly rewarded my dog with a big bag of schmackos.

Lets Par-tay!

I got an email from a friend who is currently travelling the world. Well.......he's been going around the world for about 3 years now and drops back into town once a year. Anyway, he's going to be dropping in Istanbul and Athens when I'm there! I SO CAN'T WAIT! This puts a whole new angle on our trip! If you people think me and E party hard together, add J to the equation and it's gonna be FARKIN AWESOME!!! Too bad I'll only get to spend 2 weeks with him but I guess we'll just have to squeeze 9months worth of partying into 2 weeks. Who needs sleep!?

Only 6 more weeks to the day til I go!! Count down!!

Burned Alive

I finally got the chance to buy and read this book. This is an extract from the book:

suddenly felt a cold liquid running over my head and instantly I was on fire. It is like a movie that has been speeded up, images racing past. I start to run in the garden, barefoot. I slap my hair, I scream. I feel my dress billow out behind me. Was my dress on fire, too?
I smell the gasoline and I run, the hem of my long dress getting in the way. My terror leads me instinctively away from the courtyard. I run toward the garden as the only way out. I know I'm running and I'm on fire and I'm screaming. But I remember almost nothing after that. How did I get away? Did he run after me? Was he waiting for me to fall so he could watch me go up in flames?

I've been meaning to read this book for a long time. I bought the book and shoved it along with the 60 odd books I haven't read. I guess with all the news lately about the fake autobiography out there (which shall remain unnamed), I thought I'd finally read the book. I finished reading the whole thing in 3 days and cried most of my home reading it on the train. Not only is the story touching and inspiring, but I was also outraged that these honour killings still occur now days. I mean, it's a known fact that they continue to happen. But the frequency and how "normal" people treat this situation is truely unbelievable. As a woman, I demand freedom like my brother got. I expect to have the same opportunities with education and work as any other men out there. Most of my friends know what an aggressive...errrrr.....assertive bitch I am. That is because I believe everyone should be treated the same and have the same opportunities. And when that doesn't happen, I will do something to make it happen. That is me. That is who I grew up to be. That is what I was taught, from a kid, that life should be. But these people, they keep their women locked up in their houses. They have no education provided. They don't know of any world except what the four fences around their house surrounds. The beating, degredation and killings that occur are the "norm" to them. They know no other alternative. No only did I cry for the suffering Souad is going through, but also the suffering all the other women are going through.

I seriously recommend this book to anyone out there. Hopefully after you've read it, we have another person on our side to battle these honour killings and educate people to what a human being deserves. And that is not to be beaten up, insulted, tortured and removed of all basic human rights.

Not again...

I'm sick and I feel like shit. My workmates say I look like shit. Yet I'm at work. Go figure.

Quick Post

  • Dad got a new computer, which has chinese windows installed on it. I have no idea how the hell to set it up as all the messages and instructions are in chinese. Yes I can read Chinese. No its different. Try reading a legal document in chinese and tell me its the same as reading the gossip section in the newspaper. Anyway, to cut a long story short, dad calls his friend to set up the machine to it can have wireless connection. Friend has no freakin idea what to do because he bought the wrong wireless network card that doesn't support the encryption I use despite the fact that I made it very clear when he bought it that it must support blah blah. He didn't know how to connect. He goes and RESET MY FREAKIN MODEM WIPING ALL SETTINGS and then says to me, don't need to restrict access to ur wireless yet. Leave it for a few days and then set it back up. FECK NO! Dickhead! Ended up screwing up my net and me being a net freak, almost died when my network went down over night. Spent last night on the phone with guru and finally got it up and running. Now I just have to call the "friend" and abuse his freakin ass and make him buy us a new network card. Dickhead.
  • Work has set up a new project/work tracking system. The boss was showing me all the funky new features we can use to track how much work we have. One of the features is that it would flag a warning when you have assigned double the workload to someone. Guess who, out of a list of 30 people, has ONLY their name in red, bolded with a nice warning flag next to it? Which leads me to......
  • Had a talk with the Gym instructor last night mainly regarding how I can increase the weights because when I rest the bar on my traps, its actually hurting my shoulders more than the exercise itself. He basically answered by pinching my shoulders with me yelling out "OW OW OW! LEGGO!!!!". Basically, the stress from work has caused me to have rock hard shoulders (unfortunely not rock hard abs) which is causing me pain when I put weights on it. Solution? Go get a massage. Problem? I can't stand massages! >_<
  • Oh.......despite all the crap with my network going down and all, my new baby is sweeeeetttttttttttt. Fast downloading goodness with subwoofers doof doof doofing all night! MAUAhaAUhaAUha

There is still hope for the rest of us

There is this couple that lives near my area. I don't know them and I have never mentioned them to my parents. Yet when my dad was saying something to my mum, i knew exactly who he was talking about. How? Because this couple is around 90, asian and will always walk hand in hand no matter where they go. The older asian's generally don't hold hands in public. And its even rarer to see an asian couple in their 90s always holding hands. You can tell by looking at them how much love they have for each other and are not scared to show it. I've seen them walking around my area so many times. It doesn't matter how much groceries they have to carry. They will always share the load so they have a free hand to hold each others hand. Everytime I see them, I only hope that one day I am lucky enough to find someone who loves me as much as the husband loves the wife. I also hope that more people learn to love their other half and don't be afraid to let them know until its too late.

Today, I found out that the husband had passed away. It saddens me to know that the wife is now alone. But it also makes me happy in knowing that they were never scared to express the way they felt for each other.

This is very tiring...

I've been so tired from work. I have started to accept the way things are at work. I have been proactive and organising meeting with the various people to try and change the processes at work. I've spent extra time putting together training manual in an attempt to train the other people in the office so I am not the only experienced person in the office.

We had a meeting today, basically going through all the projects we have coming up and who we are going to assign to the project. Basically, the answer to every single project, was me. We have so many people in the office. But no one has the skills to run half of the project let alone work on the project itself. I'm really getting tired of all this fighting. Yes, it good to know that I am so highly valued in the company. But it is also very exhausting and draining when you know you can make or break a project simply by not working 23hours out of a 24hour day. It is also quite degrading that I spend more time babysitting other people than actually doing something productive.

I did spend most of today preparing documents and putting together plans to train up other people and trying to reorganise the whole way we structure certain work in the company. The managers and admin people, were obviously very thrilled and excited and basically happy that someone is trying to do something about the shit going on. But I doubt this will last very long. The minute a billable project slips, all hell will break loose and I will get thrown back onto every project there is to do. All I need is 3 days. Give me 3 full days for me to concentrate on this. Please! These 3 days could, hopefully, make a huge difference to the way we work. *Sigh* I am so tired. I feel all achy all over and all I want to do is crawl into a hole and passout. Chances are they'll dig me up and strap me to a computer though. :T
