Fine tuning

I had the boxing class again tonight. Defintely much better this week. I don't think I'll be half as sore as I was last week. I ended up having a chat with the instructor (Taebo chick) after class, I told her I was interested in going to the taebo techniques class (which she also runs) where you spend the class working on your form and technique instead of the aerobics side. When she heard that, she offered to teach me on saturday!! woohoo!! AHeAHEhaea So excited!$%$#@^ So this saturday, before our taebo class, we're going to spend an hour boxing and learning the different techniques. Cookies is going to come as well so that will be awesome!!! This is probably a good chance to get her to help me with my taebo kicks as well as I can really feel myself screwing my knees up.

My dad saw my new boxing gloves, put one on, then I put the other on and we started punching each other fist to fist. My dad was fully jumping and all excited and laughing! AHeAHEAH I haven't seen him have that much fun since our trip to the beach last time. I might go and buy the punching pads and have some fun with him. He's used to taichi where its really relaxed and less impact. I think the boxing was something totally different and fun for him. :D

Kick Ass!!! O=(^_^Q)

w00t!!! I bought my own pair of boxing gloves yesterday! Not those flat boxing mitts, but the nice puffy padded type! Gonna kick some ass tonight! *Bum dance*

What annoys them?

I've always been fascinated with what guys think of certain girl things. Like what type of fashion accessory do they really hate, what did they think of make up etc etc. I've asked quite a few of my guy friends "What female fashion item really annoy you?" These are some of the answers I got back:

Pointy toed shoes

The guys hated them and I agree. (I'm so going to be persecuted for this). I admit, some people look really good with pointy toed shoes on. But it all depends on the proportion of their foot size to their height, leg length and clothes in general. Some people pull it off very well. Most people don't. The guys I asked, and me, don't get it. Why wear a pair of shoes that adds and extra 2 inches to your foot? Most people can barely walk in them. And it seems, the larger the foot, the most uncomfortable it seems. When I see people walking, it seems the front of the shoe is flapping about. If I ever consider buying a pair, someone please point me back to this entry. (Btw, this is one topic that I got a lot of ranting and raving and swearing from guys)

Micro-mini skirts

Stupid question to ask the guys the I guess.....Again, some people can pull of micro-minis. A rare few can. But what I don't get the most, is what possesses people to wear them in winter? I understand that most of the fashion we see is inspired by the other hemisphere of the earth. But seriously, fashion is one thing and common sense is another. If theres gale force winds outside, DON'T WEAR THE BLOODY SKIRT! I've seen so many people insisting on wearing these little "hankies around the ass" things on the street. Only, as they walk down the street, they have their hands constantly on their ass holding the skirt down from being blown up Marilyn Monroe style. I mean, there must be another way to get pneumonia.

Ugh boots

It's called ugh boots for a reason. Cos they're UGH-ly. Actually, they're fugly. Which is why they're meant to be worn at home. Not on the street. Yes it looks cute eskimo style. But keep that look at home. This is particularly bad when you see people in micro minis freezing their ass off, but decide to keep their little toes warm by wearing ugh boots. Like WTF? Ever considered pants? Which brings me to Jeans tucked into Ugh boots. UGH >_< Actually, any pants tucked into any boots are ugh. I mean, even Jessica Simpson couldn't pull off the jeans-in-pointy-toed-knee-high-boots look.

Cargoes with heels

Thanks Kylie. You know you're famous and you know you have the influence. But couldn't you have picked something nicer to be known for? Start something that isn't so fugly cos you know the rest of the world will just follow suit like sheep.

Stilettos

They're gorgeous when worn properly. But so many guys have asked me why the gods name do women subject ourselves to heels? Especially stilettos. Apparently, it annoys them the fact that women who wear such high heels have to pitter patter along at a snails pace incase they fall flat on their face. Then we complain that our feet hurt yadda yadda yadda. Well, I have nothing against high heels (Me being short and all....I need all the help I can get), but I think they should be left for special occassions. You see people on the trains wearing sky high heels who can't stand properly and practically topple over when the train stops. They look good, but definetly not practical. (At one point I had to take my heels off for *someone* to try whilst explaining the logic behind heels...)

I'll probably get abused by some people for this, and again, I'm going to say, some people can pull these looks off. For me, I don't think I have any chance in pulling it off and probably wouldn't want to try anyway. And some of those new "fashion" looks I just don't get and really don't care.

Talk about girl power!

You can ask anyone who goes to my gym whether they know the asian chick standing at the back of the room during tae bo class. Anyone who has seen a tae bo class in session can tell you that that chick is hardcore. She has excellent form, speed, power and determination. At times, she is probably better at tae bo that the instructor himself. Who is this chick? Well, definetly not me.

I also stand at the back of the class during tae bo. Simply because I don't want other people to see my clutziness and to also avoid accidently kicking/punching someone by mistake. This other chick stands next to me. The reason? She has the room to do her power kicks and power punches and her own variations to the routine. I've always been intimidated by her. (Which is why I've never had the guts to talk to her) I'm paranoid that its only a matter of time before I turn the wrong way one time and end up eating a fist. Yet, I totally admire her. I have never seen anyone who works out like her. There are so many people that have been going to that tae bo class for years. And by years I mean 3-4 years. Yet not a single one of them can compare to her. If I'm not taking the tae bo class, I would be working out and watching her (And no, not in a lesbian way). I watch her with admiration and respect. I strive to be able to complete a tae bo class like her. Although I suspect that the reason her form is so good is that she must have done some martial arts before. (I also suspect that shes dating the instructor! lol)

Today I decided to try out a new box class that the gym is offering. I've always wanted to go to one of them box classes but I've never been simply because they only time they offer it is at 6am in the morning on weekdays. But because its winter, the gym has put in a few new classes. Including this new box class which is a "beginners" version of the other box classes. I rock up only to find out that it is going to be taught by, you guessed it, the tae bo chick! And talk about hardcore! As I'm sitting here typing this entry, my hands are still shaking from the class. I could not open the door when I came home cos my hands were shaking so much, I couldn't get the key in the lock. Yes I'm a weak wuss. My excuse is that the people who have been taking the advanced boxing class is just as bad off as me. Well.....not AS bad...but close to. I see all the advanced people struggling to keep up with her routine. And remember, this is the beginners class. I think she's forgotten that not everyone is as hardcore as her. Although, at the end of the class, I've never felt better about myself. Well physically I'm fux0red, but mentally, it was an awesome challenge and I'm proud that I made it through the class. *Beams with pride*

Am I going to be in pain tomorrow? Definetly. Will I be back next week? Definetly. Its not often that you get to workout with someone that you admire. I might even be able to convince my sister to go with me since she also admires her dedication and how fit she is. Note to self. Buy your own boxing gloves. I bought myself a pair of cotton gloves to wear inside the gym boxing gloves. Problem was, most of the gloves were massive. I had the punching pads on and a guy went *BAM* into the punching pad. The punching pad FLEW off my hand and across the room narrowly missing the guy next to me. Luckily he saw and ducked in time. Then I spent the rest of the class putting my BARE HANDS into the boxing gloves that have been shared around the gym for god knows how long. My hand still reeks of sweat. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

It's done.

I got a call from the dentist yesterday saying someone has cancelled their appointment and there is one free slot with the specialist for today. So today I took the day off work today to go to the dentist. The specialist basically specialises in pulling people's teeth out. Mainly the wisdom teeth and the more complicated procedures. The original plan was to take one of my wisdom teeth out. I rock up and he decides that I the top and bottom wisdom teeth taken out.

I tried to get him to give me this gel that numbs the gum before he jams the needle in, but he said its of little use in most cases and in my case, no use at all. So there I was, lying in the chair, feeling all 6 needles go in. The rest was quite quick and thankfully painless (Despite the agonising pain of the needles). I was out of there in 20mins with one side of my face totally puffed so. So much that my glasses were sitting on my faces slanted.

Luckily, I got home and used the good old ice pack and the swelling has gone down now and I have yet to feel the horrible pain. Hopefully the worst has passed and I can enjoy the rest of my second long weekend. Oh and the good thing? I'm not on antibiotics so I can go drink! MAUahaUAHAUAh

I need a holiday from the holiday

Most people find long weekends relaxing and time to get some rest. For me, I'm back at work feeling more tired than ever. I blame it on the fact that my brother is over from Japan. For the past week, I've been sleeping really late after spending most of the night sitting around with my brother and dad drinking and talking. Yes. Drinking. My dad use to lecture me about drinking. How its bad for you, as a girl you shouldnt drink, even at home blah blah. But this week, its gotten to the stage where once my brother gets home, my dad will knock on my door and tell me its time to come out and drink. o_O

Late nights, plus drinking and waking up early is really not the best combination. Even on the weekend, I wake up at 6-7 either to go to the gym or go to the driving range or both. Oh btw, I've taken up golf. Well...not golf golf. Just driving range golf. I think I'll get beaten up by a bunch of 70y.o with their drivers for taking so long on the greens. However, I must say I'm quite proud of my progress. Second time to the driving range and I was hitting about 75-80% of the balls. And by hitting, I mean you hear that clean crisp crack when the club makes contact with the ball. Not the thud you hear when the club hits the ground and then the ball. Too bad I'm only hitting around 50-75m. But then I was only using some of the mid-range clubs. (Meaning you're only supposed to hit medium distance balls). My brother bought my dad golf lessons and a set of golf clubs as well. The only problem is, no one is going with my dad since none of his friends play golf. But the chances are, I'll probably go with him to the driving range around once a week. My nephews are also playing now and they're not too bad.

I remember one time I was in Singapore, we went to the driving range with my sister's family and my brother, sister in law and my dad. My little nephew (3 at that time), had his own set of golf clubs. Not those plastic golf clubs. Proper titanium ones. He even had his own golf bag which he insists on carrying himself to the driving range. As we were walking to our area, you see everyone we walk past stop and look at my nephew and grinning. I must admit, he looked SO CUTE!! He had on his little leather shoes, those 3/4 pants, a polo shirt and cap. He looked like a pro! Only smaller. EHhehehe Think.....bonsai golf player. Not only did he look the part, he could hit! He couldn't hit far, but he had the perfect form. He did his warm up exercises, lined up the ball and club and made his swing. Then you hear the crisp cracking sound and his ball sailing in a straight line. It was quite embarrassing playing next to him. I looked like a farmer trying to loosen the soil in the ground with a golf club. *Hangs head in shame* Must PRACTISE!

The rest of my weekend was spent either shopping, eating or drinking. God damnit! My brother comes back and everyone in the family puts on weight! And you people wonder why we beat each other up. Atleast my brother realised he put on 5kg in the 1 week he was here! MAUahAUha Went to DFO in homebush and liverpool. Bad, bad, BAD idea. I ended up buying 2 pairs of sport shoes, 1 pair of heels, 2 tops, 2 jackets, bags, wallet and mass amounts of jewellery followed by a session of Krispy Kremes. I then spent 7 hours sitting on my ass in the cinemas watching movie marathon with cookies. And guess what? They mixed the movies up again! GOD DAMNIT!! It was supposed to be Harry Potter/Troy/Scooby Doo2. It was actually Troy/Harry Potter/Scooby Doo2. And how do I know it wasn't me getting the order wrong? Because there was no previews for Troy, but there were previews for Harry Potter. Damn incompetent people! Oh and Troy SUCKED. Maybe it was the lack of sleep or the fact that I was sooooooooo looking forward to watching HP3 first, but i truely found the movie sucktacular! The only good thing about it was the costume. Or lack of costume for Pitt, Bana and Bloom. Like OMG get me a towel to wipe my drool!!

Harry Potter was fantastic! Defintely better than the first 2! Although, I was a bit disappointed when they left out bits of the book which would have really helped with the storyline. For me its ok because I've read the book. For those who haven't read it, I don't think they enjoyed the storyline as much as they could have. I would love to see the extended edition, but I'm going to hold out and wait for all 7 movies to come out (If it ever happens) and buy the mega large, extended, digitally remastered, 10th anniversary, special collectors boxed set 30 disc version with collectable figurines.

Now, I sit at my desk with red dry eyes from the lack of sleep feeling more exhausted than before the long weekend. The good news? My brother leaves today meaning I get to sleep early tonight and attempt to catch up on some sleep. The bad news is that I've got training again and probably won't get home before 9:30 meaning I'll miss the last episode of Miriam. I was so looking forward to watching the guys gag and spit at the thought that they made out with a dude. "Why don't you just tape it?" you ask? Because I never watch anything I tape. So it's basically the same as missing it on tv, only I don't waste tape. Ugh. Might walk to get my morning coffee......

Weekend Recap

Friday

Kill Bill Movie marathon Vol 1 and 2 back to back. Lights dimmed, and the movie started. Only they were showing Kill Bill 2 instead of 1. Everyone whips out their tickets and their mobile phones to check if they bought the wrong ticket or was in the wrong cinema. This guy screams out "OMG!! COVER YOUR EYES!". Then this chick screams out "OMG!! I CAN STILL HEAR IT!!" LoL. Gees. They eventually changed the reels to show kill bill 1. I can't even have a normal night out at the movie.

Oh, I also bumped into 2 friends whilst I was waiting for the movie to start. I didn't see them coming. I just heard this insane laughter and screeching. Then I tackled by these 2 lunatics that I supposedly knew. Scary...I didn't see them. But I heard them! LoL

Saturday

Dentist. >_< Yes......despite my fear and hate of dentists...I went. And they said I wouldn't need to pull my wisdom teeth out! WooHoo! Well...they *recommend* that I take one of them out but it wasn't going to cause any problems. I'm going to have to book an appointment with the specialist. Might need to wait 2 months. Will see. But I got a new dentist on saturday and he was so good! Unlike my other dentist who is old and experienced, this guys alot more careful and takes his time instead of rushing through with confidence like the other dentist. Therefore leaving most of the gum still attached in my mouth. I think I'm overcoming my fear of dentists......and it really helps when the dentist is young and not bad looking! kekekeke

After the dentist I decided to go for a bit of shopping with nothing in mind really. Was better than sitting at home. Bad idea. Walked into shop #1, 2 pairs of pants. Shop #2, a top and jacket. By the time I came out, I made up my mind to go home instead. At the rate I was going, I wouldn't be able to afford to go to all the shops.

Sunday

ever had to wake up at 5am to drive to the airport when it's 5 degrees outside? Fricken cold I tell you! I had problems indicating cos my fingers were so frozen I couldn't flick the indicator. Had to do a robotic arm flick thing. Pick my brother and sister in law up from the aiport and took them home. I convinced my dad to bake them a cake for breakfast. I got such a dirty look from my brother! AHeAHeAheha

Went to a Malaysian restaurant for dinner. This was probably the weirdest meal I've had in a long time. We ordered some type of chilli crab because we've had that before when in malaysia/singapore. The crab comes out looking totally different from what we're used to. I thought to myself "Maybe this is some sort of sweet and sour chilli crab". Then these fried pork chops came out and I bit into it and went "hmmm.....strange...its sweet...maybe its a dish i've never tried before...". Prawns come out....sweet. Satay sticks come out......sweet. Pipis came out.....sweet. Like WTF? Its like they accidently put sugar into the salt pot or something! When desert came out, I just didn't want any cos I felt like I had an entire meal of desert! *ugh* My stomache did not feel good after that meal.

Got home and was sitting around the livingroom chatting to my parents and bro and sister in law. My brother steals the Gym ball from me and decided to pound it on my face. We did a run up *sumo smack each other in the chest* move with the gym ball between us. I rebounded and landed on the floor. My brother runs up, stands over me and bounces the damn ball off my face. I swear my nose feels crooked and slightly bruised. @_@ I guess that what happens when i try to screw my brother over by getting him to eat half of my dads cake! hehehehe

Looks like the rest of this weeks going to be a massive feast with either dinner out every night or my mum cooking a 15 course meal at home. And I kid you not when I say 15 course meal.....Thats what happens when the only boy in the family returns home. Pffft. Spoilt brat.

Its really not a pretty sight.....

Please. I beg you! If you are 40+, and insist on doing a very aerobics class involving lots of jumping and running in a see-through WHITE singlet. Please, do not under any circumstances go bra-less. Its not a pretty sight. And even if those around you don't mind, I really don't think its going to help with the future sag problem. *covers eyes*

I'm dumb ok? Just say it to my face!

People say women are complicated and hard to understand. What a load of bull. I've been asking this questions to heaps of people for awhile. What consitutes as a "date"? I just don't get it. Until the guy very specifically states that its a date, its not a date. "Hey, wanna catch a movie?" is not a date. "I'm hungry, want to go eat?" is not a date. "Let's go watch a movie" is also NOT A DATE! Maybe try saying "Hey, would you like to go out some time?". Or maybe even "Did you want to go out? I would like to get to know you better." You know what? Better yet, try saying "WANT TO GO OUT ON A DATE!?". God damnit. I'm dumb. Say it to my face.

Omgosh! I won!

Just got a package from L'Oreal and won myself a bottle of nail polish! May not seem much, but I haven't won jack all for the past decade! Plus it was a nice surprise from my extremely depressing day.
