The Kids

My Sister was in Sydney last week visiting from singapore with the kids as well as my brother and sister in law. I've basically been off the net for the past week simply because they were here for one week only, and with work and overtime, that only leaves me a few days to spend with them. I think my sister has done a magnificent job on her kids. They are some of the most well behaved and smart kids I know. My sister has never ever hit them. Not even slapped them on the hand for misbehaving. Yet they are so well behaved! Its so rare to see kids that you can reason with, without having to lie or make up stories. You can tell them the truth and they will accept it and not throw a tantrum (Most of the time anyway). I think what amazes me is their maturity and understanding even when they are so young (5 and 3). I remember when my nephew was 3 years old and we were watching Godzilla. He was scared of the movie until his dad turned to him and said "This is only a movie. It's not real." After that, he was no longer scared. How many kids can grasp the concept of fantasy and reality? I know heaps of kids who are still scared of "monsters" that their parents make up to scare them. "Go to bed or the monster will come and catch you" etc. Yet with them, we never had to make up those stories. We simple said "Go to bed. Or do you want me to be angry?". I reckon my sister has done a wonderful job on the kids. Hopefully I can be a good parent like that one day, IF i decide to become a mother.

My Sister bought me a book when she came over. Its very similar to a bible, but it takes excerpts from the bible and they add in more motivational stuff. I was lying in bed this morning and I saw the book next to me. I suddenly remembered a story I've heard quite a few times.

A man was walking along the beach when he turned around and saw a set of footprints that represented every stage of his life. Next to his set of footprints was another set of footprints which belonged to God. However, he noticed that there was only one set of footprints when he was going through the toughest time of his life. The man then went to ask God why was his set of footprints missing through the toughest time of his life? Why did God abandon him when he needed his help the most? God replied "There is only one set of footprints because when you were going through the tough times, I was carrying you".

Although I'm not the most religious person in the world, I love that story. And it saddens me to think that, unlike God in the story, I cannot be there by my nephew and nieces side when they are going through a tough time. I see them once a year for a week or two at most and I must wait another year before I get to see them. I know I cherished every minute I spent with them this week because I knew I didn't have much time to play with them. I used every opportunity to tell them that I love them very much. Hoping, wishing that they won't forget me when they go back to Singapore. Hoping that when they grow up, they will remember that they have an Aunty that loves them very much and will be there for them.

I have been so busy at work the past few weeks with all the overtime and weekend work. When the kids came over, I had to choose. Work or Family? Stay back at work to do a fantastic job and get the recognition I deserve and a promotion that I earnt, or go home and spend time with the kids? Luckily, everything seemed to work itself out and I didn't have to make a choice. But I know I will have to make that choice one day. And right now, I don't know what I will choose. Lets just hope that whatever I do end up choosing, I won't regret one day.

Late Thank You

My Birthday

I know its almost half a week since Saturday, but i had an awesome time! The whole drunkeness thing really helped with the stress of work and other crap! AHeaheaHEa I was so happy that so many of my friends were there!

Oishii: My birthday wouldn't be the same without you causing trouble and advertising christine and acting as a pimp! Of course you kept up the tradition of being late and making me late for my party again! Thank you!! (Even though i'm not important to you)

Christine: If you werent there, chances are i would've gotten advertised by Enver. But that doesn't bother me too much cos the chances are i would've grabbed the camera off the guy and shoved it where the sun don't shine

Mey & Vics: My two drinking partners!!! Well Vics is my hardcore drinking partner and mey is getting trained by the both of us! Btw, vics is really evil with the camera, but then i realised it was cos of the cake so i forgive u!! *^_^*

Dave: I'm so glad u made it!!!!! Actually, i'm glad both you and your brother Minh made it!!! AHEaHEa

Chao: I'm surprised you even came!! i thought you woulda been sick of me from work!!! AHeaHEa Atleast you didn't fall asleep after the 2534543232 scripts i made you do!

The Boons: Like i said, the "boobs" makes the night more interesting. I don't think anyones gonna let me forget that typo for a very long time. But thank you guys for coming! Particularly Yui. I needed someone to screw me over on my birthday. Happens every year, and this year it was you.

Alan & gus: You guys were late!! But i forgive you cos you still came!!! *HuggLes*

Jono & Linda: AheAHEAHEAH I was so surprised when i saw you guys!!! I didnt think either of you were coming! Especially you linda! you were supposed to be skiing!!!

Work

On another note, Work has been a bitch. I've been working for 2 weekends plus filming, plus trying to spend time with my nephews and niece etc and a whole bunch of other stuff. I knew that my job came with more responsibility, but i didn't expect this much commitment this soon. But then I'm surprised i've been able to handle it. I was freaking myself out when i found out i was to start managing the projects etc, but i just realised today that that was the old me. I noticed in the past week i've become alot more forceful and less afraid of the client. I'm not so worried about "Oh what if i say something wrong?" factor anymore. Or maybe i'm just getting really shitty about the amount of work and the incompetence of some people. Either way, i need a holiday. I havent had a single day off work since Easter. Not even a sick day. Regardless i'm taking friday off to spend time with the kids. Its not my fault the project is rooted. I understand that now. Its not me, its them. I know this as a fact.

Filming update

Filming was awesome this weekend. The movie is coming along great. I can't wait to edit the movie! Hopefully i can watch some of the footage this weekend just incase we need to refilm everything. Lighting has been a real problem for us. Well, power in general. We need more batteries and more light! I'm getting really agro about it as well with some of the new crew cos they play with the torches and stuff. I'm probably a bitch on set but i try and make up for it once i realise i've been a bitch. I'm starting to get freaked out about the movie too just like Oishii. He's spent so much time and money on the film i think he's crazy. But its great to see someone so passionate about something. To want to dedicate so much time and money into something they love is amazing (Or crazy). I hope the film goes really well and i will kill anyone who tries to screw the movie up. (aka gothic bitch - I WILL have my revenge. Just you wait.) I guess since i've spent my last few weekends filming that i'm starting to get passionate about the movie as well. Its like my baby. Ok, not my baby, my adopted baby AHEaHEahe Be prepare for the red carpet premier! Coming to a cinema near you soon (Or the closest tv screen)
