Bernard Fanning
So I got a phone call late Monday arvo, and the conversation went something like this:
Her: blah blah blah blah tickets to tomorrow night's concert
Me: Excuse me?
Her: blah blah blah you've won tickets to tomorrow night's concert
Me: Oh, what is this for??
Her: You entered a contest for Bernard Fanning's concert and you've won tickets for tomorrow night's concert!
So yeh, I won tickets to Bernard Fanning's concert for Tuesday night. The minute I hung up, I called Moishii.
Me: Hey, are you free tomorrow night?
Him: Why? What's happening? What are you booking? I HAVE NO TIME!!!!
Me: I got free concert tickets to Bernard Fanning's concert tomorrow night at Hordern Pavillion
Him: Who is that? why are you signing me up to freaky concerts! Its an incident waiting to happen isn't it?
Despite his protests, we managed to book the time in to head to the concert. All I had been told was that the concert starts at 7:30 and they have my name at the doorlist. So what do we do? We race to Fox Studios, quickly grab a snack at subway and run to the box office as it was getting close to 7:30 and it was general admission. When we got to the box office, we noticed a sign saying that there are 2 supporting acts before Bernard fanning comes out, which was 9:30pm! OMG! If only we knew that we could've sat down and enjoyed a nice meal as opposed to shoving food down our throats.
We ended up at Strike bar having a drink and chatting before we made our way to the concert around 8pm. We wanted to catch Augie March before the BF concert started. I'm glad we went early because we managed to grab a seat since I'm too old for standing and mosh pitting. Augie March was awesome and I would've loved to grab their CD, but for $30, I wasn't willing to part with my money. BF came on stage and he was an excellent performer, the only problem was we were so tired by 10pm! The depressing thing was, I said to Moishii, atleast 75% of the people in here probabaly came straight from work. Yet they're able to stay awake, enjoy the show even if they're standing. Meanwhile, we're sitting in our comfy seats complaining that we're tired! We're a disgrace. We actually left the concert at 10:15pm, and as we were walking out, the security at the gate said theres no out passes. When I told them that its not a problem, they gave us the look of "Who the hell leaves a concert when its barely half way through??". Us apparently.
I wouldn't mind going to Bernard Fannings concert again, just maybe on a weekend next time. Either way, I was happy I got to go! Free tickets are always a bonus!
