I'm BACK!!
I am so exhausted from my flight back to Sydney. I know I should be sleeping right now but I just won't be able to sleep tonight and feel crap at work tomorrow. So I've opted to feel crap today and feel good tomorrow.
Singapore
My trip to Singapore and Japan was awesome!! Although I really didn't have enough time in Japan. I must go again some time! Hopefully to Osaka as well next time. Most of the time in Singapore was spent shopping and spending time with the kids. They haven't grown up alot since the last time I saw them which is a good thing. I want them to stay cute and innocent a bit longer so they can enjoy childhood before having to face exams, peer pressure and other horrible things in the world. My niece however, is much too old for her age. She's 2 years younger than her brother yet she is more mature than him. I guess girls do mature faster than guys. I love spending time with the kids particularly my niece. I love talking to her! And you can actually have proper conversations with her unlike all the other kids I've seen. She's always so curious and cheeky that makes her absolutely adorable!!! The highlight of my trip? My niece walks up to me, puts her hands on my shoulder and says "Lily Aunty, I love you." *^_^* I was so touched I wanted to cry! I would've bought anything and everything for her if she asked me.
I was also fortunate enough to be in Singapore for my nephew's Violin performance! He was awesome and hes only 5!! They had 2 classes performing that day. K1 and K2. The K1 kids sounded like they were trying to skin a chicken alive! It was quite painful for the ears to sit through that performance but it was still great to see the kids trying! Then it was my nephew performance. He walked onto the stage in a tuxedo (Although it was so hot he didn't wear the tie and jacket) whilst all the other kids were in tshirts and shorts. I was so proud of my nephew! You can actually hear the changes in notes! *Gasp**Shock**Horror* AHeAeha They played a few short songs and joined the teacher in playing "Old Mac Donald had a farm" and you can actually TELL that its "Old Mac Donald had a farm"! After his Violin performance, the school put on a play where my nephew played the major role in being the narrator for the whole play!! I took so many pictures and videos that day that I almost used up the memory cards on 3 digital cameras! Too bad I missed my nephews piano recital the week before that.
Japan
The flight to Japan was quite crap. It was a midnight flight where we didn't get any supper and they only turned the lights off for about 3 hours for you to sleep. There was no "kids entertainment pack", no refreshments except for some fried egg thing for breakfast. The flight was over booked and there was mass turbulence! The kids couldn't sleep cos it was so cramped and at one point i woke up to see my niece kneeling down on the floor with her head on the seat sleeping. Once we arrived in Narita airport, we had to go find the train station which will take us to the heart of Tokyo. This meant pushing 2 overloaded trolleys and guiding 3 cranky kids to the train station which was located in some strange hard to find place. They don't believe in lifts at the airport. To get to the train station, we had to go down 3 levels on those step/stairs escalators whilst balancing those luggage trolleys! At one point, one of the trolleys almost dropped onto the kids.....Gees...We finally got on the train to Tokyo, and as we were about to get off, my brother in law pulls my suitcase down from the luggage rack and we hear a "Plonk". We look down on the ground and I saw that the wheels of my suitcase had fallen off. So now we are faced with 3 cranky screaming kids and 4 suitcases (One which can't be pulled) between 3 adults. Oh......also, my sisters suitcase was 40kgs. Luckily my brother and sister in law showed up in time to help us drag my broken suitcase to the taxi stand. Only by the time we got there, theres a massive gaping whole in my suitcase where the contents were about to spill out. Like OMFG! That's something I never want to go through again.
Anyway, besides the horrible trip Japan, the rest of the holiday was awesome! We arrived when the Cherry Blossoms were in full bloom. We went to a park where the entire streets were lined with Sakuras (Cherry Blossoms). When the wind blew, the petals were flying everywhere!! IT WAS SO PRETTY!!!! OMG!!! AHEAHEAHE We also went to the Imperial Palace, had a picnic in their gardens and then walked around the palace only to see the most beautiful Cherry Blossom tree!! It was absolutely breathtaking! After the sight seeing, we decided to go shopping. We went to the 2 most popular shopping districts in Tokyo. One of the places we went to started the whole Japanese school girl white socks trend. Since then they have been the leaders in fashion and the trend setters.
And the highlight of my trip to Japan? I WENT TO DISNEYLAND!!!! Yes I know I'm getting a bit old, but I've always wanted to go Disneyland as a kid and I'm gonna go god damnit! I missed out on quite a few of the rides because I was with the kids and they weren't exactly about to go on the Space Mountain ride with me. I still had a fantastic time there and got myself a pair of dumbo ears! We also had about 6 buckets of popcorn there! Depending on which world you were in, the popcorn was a different flavour. Honey, caramel, coconut.....etc. It also came in a special bucket you can hang around your neck! Winnie the pooh honey pot for honey popcorn, Chip n dale nut for coconut flavoured popcorn etc. Definetly worth the 30min queue. We stayed until night time where we got to see the lights and the fireworks. We meet some of the cartoon characters (But strangely enough we didn't see Mickey Mouse). We went inside the Cinderalla Castle only to be faced with witches, monsters and the living dead but not Cinderella. o_O Next time, I think I'll go to DisneySea and see Ariel the Little Mermaid :D
I tried to keep a food diary of everything we ate whilst in Japan. But me and my sister being greedy guts, we usually tucked in before we could take any photos. Heres a sample of our lunch:
MmmMMMmmm I can't wait to go back to Japan!!! AHEAHEAHE Oh by the way......my brother has a toilet that flushes your ass after you've gone to the toilet. :D
