Weekend recap

An evening with Peter Jackson

Peter Jackson arrived in Sydney last Friday in the middle of filming King Kong to do a little talk on Lord of the Rings. The show was worth every cent I paid. Most of you know I am quite obsessed with LOTR the movie. I think PJ is an absolute genius! Anyone who has seen his earlier works 'Bad Taste' and 'Brain Dead' +/ 'Dead Alive' will not believe that that is the same LOTR director. His earlier movies are the cheesiest B grade movies. They were hilarious though! But compared to LOTR, you kinda go 'What the......?!'. Yet, out of such a warped and twisted mind, comes the masterpiece LOTR. It was quite funny listening to him explain how he almost got replaced as the director for LOTR and the entire pre-production process took 3-4 years!

He also explained how he got into directing. He basically wanted to learn how to use a proper film camera with the reels and all, but since the processing of the film is so expensive, he didn’t want to just waste his money filming nothing. So he decided to make a short film. However, he could only film on Sundays (Sounds familiar), and during the week, he's forever thinking of new ideas to film on the weekends (Sounds familiar again). Because of this, the storyline kept changing. And it was a film as you go process (SOUNDS SO DAMN FAMILIAR!). By the time he started editing his 'short film', it was 1hr long. So he basically thought, lets just continue filming. (Now I know where I get it from.......) And hence 'Bad Taste' was created and become one of the biggest cult movies. How he went from Bad Taste to LOTR I'll never understand.

The highlight of the night would have to be PJ pulling out his own private DVD he made during LOTR. It was basically a composition of bloopers from the filming and other skits he filmed. Nothing beats watching Aragorn pull out a machine gun and spraying the witch king and the orcs, or watching Gandalf crowning the 'age of the QUEENS' in a curly blonde wig riddled with pink ribbon bows! AheAHEaHEAH

I would have loved to hear PJ talk about 'Forgotten Silver'. It is basically a 'documentary' he made, which talks about this forgotten movie director who paved the way for all other film makers after him. The one to invent colour film and make all these break throughs in technology. There is also a hidden lost city somewhere in the forest which was one of the biggest film sets ever built! This 'Documentary' got aired in NZ, which was closely followed by a lot of hype as to who this mysterious director is that no one has ever heard of. Little did they know, the whole thing was one big set up! None of it existed! EHaehae Ahhhh How I love the twisted mind of a genius at work!

The whole show went by too quick! I only wish that they allowed questions from the audience. I wish the whole thing was on DVD as well! I would be one of the first people to buy it! Oh wells....atleast I can use my ticket stub to get discount entry into the LOTR exhibition. :D

Oxford St...that didn't happen

My favourite chocolate candy is up from Melbourne and we had decided to take all the little candies to roam Oxford St followed by a bit of clubbing. Lets just say most of them fell asleep in the Hotel Room. So with a few of them still barely awake, we trekked up Oxford St, only to realise that we were hungry and wanted food. Listening to someone we should've ignored, we trekked from Oxford St across to Kings Cross, only to find out the restaurant was closed. So we decided to roam around the streets and maybe find a cafe, and somehow we ended up at Harry's Cafe at Woolloomoolloo. The night ended up with us hiking back all the way to Hyde park. Talk about blisters.....

Fish Markets!

Omg.....can you talk about food galore? Seafood platter, sushi, sashimi and seaweed salad is the perfect start to a Sunday arvo. We gotta learn to stop stuffing our faces…After saying that, we ended up at…

Sumalee!

Half price cocktails and Thai food is one of the best combos. Too bad about certain company that had decided to join us. It was like an annoying Mosquito that you choose to ignore, but yet insists on trying to irritate you by taking jabs at you. Luckily I have very good aim with my insect repellent. DIE BIATCH. Despite that, I had an awesome time catching up with my little mnm over food and about 16 shots of alcohol. I was disgustingly sober at the end of the night… :(

Lowenbrau
You would think that after so many cocktails at Sumalee, I would give my liver a rest. Not a chance! Monday or no Monday! We hit Lowenbrau to get our weekly dose of Mango beer and Strawberry wine followed by good hearty German Food. YUM!!! Now...to nurse a hang over in time for work….

Lets recap...what did I do the whole weekend? EAT! Ugh…this week shall be dedicated to the Gym! After Wednesday that is.....Movies tonight thanks. Have a safe trip home dearie! *waves*
